Edited Beauty

(Dove Evolution)

This isn’t the only type of Video out there, but I thought that it and many others were apt in addressing some of the issues we see in society today.

It’s still shocking to see the unrealistic, shallow, stereotypical changes that pictures go through.

I work with many young girls and know a few young adults that have anxieties and hang ups around their body image, looks and personal appearance.

Some how I don’t believe the Media is solely to blame, but its a start. We are encouraged to see things like freckles as imperfections, forced to see having meat on your bones as being over weight and then bombarded by images of Photo-shopped “beautiful” people.

Beauty; The classical Greek noun for “beauty” was, kallos, and the adjective for “beautiful” was, kalos. The Koine Greek word for beautiful was, hōraios, an adjective etymologically coming from the word, hōra, meaning “hour”. In Koine Greek, beauty was thus associated with “being of one’s hour”. Thus, a ripe fruit (of its time) was considered beautiful, whereas a young woman trying to appear older or an older woman trying to appear younger would not be considered beautiful. – http://en.wikipedia.org

Beauty is Vain, Fleeting and something that Passes. The Media, Society and People should be promoting Natural Beauty; accepting people, women etc for who they are (warts and all).

We were made different for a reason, no size, colour, shape or height is better than the other.
